More about the Titleist Performance Institute:

The Titleist Perfromance Institute Certifications are a three level education course designed to teach  how to identify and overcome any physical restrictions that are limiting a golfers potential. Each workshop features the latest in golf-specific health and fitness, from golf swing biomechanics, to physical screening techniques, to exercise prescriptions, to the most recent research and development in the field of golf swing analysis.  In order to become TPI Certified canidates must attend TPI Seminars and pass a written test.

At Waters Landing you receive the same assessments for swing efficiency (K-vest 3D motion capture),  physical evaluations (TPI Screens), and your personal website (mytpi Pro Site) complete with videos of your body swing activities as do PGA Tour Players. In addition to being a PGA Professional, John Hafera is a Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor Level 3, Golf Biomechanics Level 2, and just recently passed the test to become K-Vest Level 2 Certified.  He is one of less than 100 world wide with these certifications and is the only PGA Professional in Maryland or Virginia with these credentials.  Teaching assistant Wayne Kao is TPI Certified Level 1 and K-Vest Certified Level 1 and has trained under John Hafera for two years.   Wayne is fluent in the Chineese language.  We are trained to look beyond mechanics to what limitations your body may put on your swing. A limitation could be balance, coordination, strength, flexibility, stamina or some combination.    We use the Titleist Performance Institute physical assessment to gather empirical data on what your body is capable of.   We use video,  but we go well beyond video with K-Vest 3D motion analysis to gather empirical data on your swing efficiency (Kinematic Sequence) and detailed reports on the actual ranges of motion  during your golf swing.  The reports are in numerical, graph and animated forms with comparisons to ranges of PGA Tour Players.  By utilizing TPI 3D Software we have access to the best 3D data available anywhere.

In our TPI instruction we are taught "If you don't test it is a guess"  we don't guess  about your physical limitations, swing efficiency or swing mechanics.  With better data we can we can make more accurate swing assessments and offer a comprehensive plan for improvement.
